Time for a break….

My life is a little bit pear shaped at the moment. My Darling husband Glynn passed away last night only hours after I returned home from having knee replacement surgery .I will be taking a little break from blogging.

I hope to be back with you soon.

Bring on the bling.....

What's a girl to do when she buys new slippers and they are a bit blah. Very comfy and lovely to wear but ten out of ten for boring.

The only thing to do is add bling.

That looks better - more like me.

Thanks for popping by

Jumbo in the Jungle

Julie asked me to quilt this sweet quilt for her Grand Daughter.

Jumbo quilt

A simple but very effective pattern. 5” squares sewn in rows with every second row off set by half a square. These fabrics all came from Spotlight. I’m not promoting Spotlight but I often hear people comment that you can’t get a good range of fabrics at Spotlight. I think this little selection is very attractive.

More spirals – they seem to suit this quilt. With a nice flannel on the back this quilt has great snuggle appeal.

Thanks for asking me to quilt for you Julie.

Star Burst

One of our Sweet Peas, Debbie found this quilt pattern on the Internet:
Star Burst Quilt
Ever one for a challenge Debbie just had to make this quilt. Not a quilt for the faint hearted. That centre piece surrounded by the first round of stars has 273 pieces in it!

I was itching to stitch this quilt so I was thrilled when Debbie asked me to quilt it for her. She gave me cart blanche to get stitching.
Here it is loaded on the frame:

First I stitched in the ditch around the stars and coloured squares. Then starting in the middle I stitched out through the the stars with star burst flowers, scaling them to fit the different sizes.

Then the fun commenced, fantasy feathers in the background working out to the edges.

What fun I had! I used Superior Threads Fantastico Variegated thread. The thread  was perfect  for this quilt. It’s hard to see in the photos but the thread is purple, lime green, aqua, blue and bright pink. This thread sparkles against the black background.

Debbie also made some back art:

I used Bottom Line black on the back.
BTW, if you like this quilt you can find the pattern at Gourmet Quilter. The designer is a New Zealander. You may like to poke around her site, you will find some very different quilts there.
Thank you for asking me to quilt for you Debbie. ……and just because I can one last peek…..

Sweet Peas……..

………better late than never!

Moira brought back her Row by Row quilt which she has added lace and buttons to. Some of the lace is from her friend’s wedding dress and some of the buttons are from her children’s clothes.

Rochelle made this cute quilt for a new member of her family:

Rochelle and her owl quilt

She assembled the wide owl section first and quilted it, adding some extra trapunto padding behind the owl and the tree branch. Then she added the other strips by the lasagne quilt method. All these fabrics came from Spotlight. Back is pretty cute too:

Margaret showed us this hand bag which she has just completed:

Trish has been working away at this tricky foundation pieced top. Striking colours.

I haven’t been able to attend Sweet Peas for awhile. It was so nice to see all the ladies again.

Thanks for popping by.
